Morristown, NJ (Vocus) October 19, 2010 – On the heels of an FDA Advisory Committee Meeting evaluating safety concerns of cold medication dextromethorphan, Buster Brands announces Cold Buster, a new product with proven efficacy and no risks of abuse.

On September 14, 2010, the FDA Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee met to evaluate the safety of dextromethorphan, a popular cough suppressant contained in approximately 125 over-the-counter medications, such as well-known products Robitussin, NyQuil, Dimetapp, Vicks, and Delsym.

When taken in excess quantities, dextromethorphan can cause euphoria and hallucinations. This abuse, popularly known as “robo-tripping,” carries risks of elevated blood pressure, heart rate and fever. Abusers can also suffer liver damage from other ingredients mixed in cough medicines, such as acetaminophen. These uses of dextromethorphan led to almost 8,000 emergency room visits in 2008, a 72 percent increase from 2004, according to an FDA report. According to a 2009 study from University of Michigan, 4-6 percent of adolescents in grades 8-12 said they had taken over-the-counter cough and cold medications to get high in the previous 12 months.

In light of this national crisis, 9 experts on the FDA Advisory Committee voted in favor of imposing strict regulations on the sale and distribution of products containing dextromethorphan. These restrictions could make the products only accessible to adults aged 18 and over, put them behind the pharmacy counter, and reduce the available retail locations down from 700,000 to 55,000. Clearly, cold medicines of the past may not be ideal for symptoms in the future.

With consumers now taking a more discriminating look at over-the-counter cold medications and the FDA potentially enforcing strict restrictions, Buster Brands, the same trusted company behind Sinus Buster and Allergy Buster, arrives with a new solution to fill the void. Just launched in the beginning of September, Cold Buster is an all-natural cold syrup that contains Pelargonium, an extract from the South African Geranium. Unlike many cold remedies that simply mask symptoms, Cold Buster speeds recovery. Pelargonium has been clinically shown to significantly reduce duration and severity of cold symptoms. With a warming honey-lemon taste, Cold Buster provides relief from congestion, cough, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, headache, and hoarseness. And consumers can enjoy worry-free relief, since Cold Buster contains a non-drowsy formula, is not habit-forming, has no known drug interactions, and is zinc-free.

Cold Buster, in addition to Sinus Buster and Allergy Buster, can be found nationally at most major food, drug, and mass retailers. And all of the Buster Brands products can always be purchased online at http://www.busterbrands.com.

Each year as the summer ends and the calendar turns toward September, consumers brace for the inevitable bouts of coughing, stuffiness, runny nose, and congestion—symptoms of the common cold. And it truly is common, as the average adult contracts two to four colds per season. But going to the store to purchase medicine can be confusing, due to the overwhelming selection and multitude of identical formulas. It’s no wonder that consumers consistently rate the cough-cold section as one of the most confusing in the store.

This Fall, Sinus Buster is building off of its strong 2009-2010 national launch, relieving the confusion and the symptoms of the common cold. Unlike the plethora of other remedies on the shelf, Sinus Buster is different. Sinus Buster starts to work in less than one minute to relieve sinus congestion, pressure and pain. It can also be used for weeks at a time to help relieve symptoms of the common cold, which typically lasts five to ten days. The vast majority of other nasal sprays contain oxymetazoline and phenylephrine, which restrict use to just three days, hardly enough time to combat those persistent wintry symptoms. Sinus Buster is all-natural and contains no harmful chemicals or preservatives.

For the past few years, sufferers have had the opportunity to use Sinus Buster with great success. Feedback from consumers has been overwhelmingly positive, with comments such as:

“This one single product has changed my life! This product has changed my sinuses!”

“Instant relief of pressure and congestion.”

“Wow! Immediate, no nonsense relief!”

Now, with dramatically more national retailers stocking Sinus Buster, millions of sufferers will have the breakthrough opportunity to experience relief that starts in under a minute in a remedy that’s safe enough to use for weeks at a time. Sinus Buster can be found nationally at:

Wal-Mart

K-Mart

Walgreens

Rite Aid

CVS

Safeway

Sinus Buster can also be found at regional food and drug chains across the country. In total, nearly 30,000 retail locations in the United States stock Sinus Buster. And Sinus Buster, together with all of the Buster Brands products, can always be purchased online at http://www.busterbrands.com.

This year, when those pesky symptoms force a visit to the store, Sinus Buster will be on the shelf to help.

Morristown, NJ (Vocus) August 19, 2010 — On July 13 2010, Sinus Buster kicked off its Facebook page with “Snot Your Average Contest,” in order to find the wackiest, craziest, and weirdest home sinus remedies. With over 3,000 entries describing a host of unusual, even oddball therapies, Sinus Buster is pleased to announce that Cynthia Beaumont of North Bergen, NJ is the winner. Her entry, copied here, received the most votes from the Facebook audience:

“I tend to get sinus headaches but hate to take drugs so I put an eye mask across my forehead, and to keep it from hurting my skin I put in a piece of paper towel between it, but it’s kinda big so it flops over looking like a baseball cap flap. I do this so often I forget I have it on. I’m by myself so I never think about it, so when the bell rang I just answered it! Oops so the guy kept staring at me not saying anything. I get back in my apartment and see myself in the mirror. OMG he must have thought I was nuts!! I can imagine me being one of his nutty customer stories he tells everyone about!”

In addition to Cynthia’s solution, people have taken to many other strange measures in their efforts to achieve relief. Everything from eating warm olive oil and garlic cloves, to sitting on the washing machine, to putting a microwaved towel over their faces. These remedies and many more will be showcased on the Sinus Buster’s Facebook page through the end of August. As a grand prize for getting the most votes, Cynthia Beaumont will receive a 32GB iPod Touch. All valid entries also received a free bottle of Sinus Buster or Allergy Buster nasal spray.

According to Buster Brands’ VP of web development and marketing, “Once people in the contest have a chance to try their free bottle of Sinus Buster or Allergy Buster, we know that they will finally be able to toss away their home remedies in favor of relief with the Buster Brands products. We look forward to hearing about these success stories on the Facebook page.” That’s because Sinus Buster works in under one minute to significantly improve nasal congestion, sinus pressure, pain, headache, and sense of smell. As an all-natural product, Sinus Buster is safe enough to be used for weeks at a time, unlike popular nasal sprays such as Afrin or Sinex, which warn against use for more than 3 days at a time.

Through both Facebook andTwitter, Sinus Buster will announce future contests, promotions, and product announcements. Sinus Buster is available online and nationally at most drug stores, including CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid.

Starting on July 13th 2010, Sinus Buster’s new Facebook page will host its first contest – “Snot Your Average Contest”. Share your wackiest, craziest, weirdest home sinus remedies for a chance to win a 32GB iPod Touch!

In a recent clinical study by leading researcher Dr. Jonathan Bernstein of University of Cincinnati, Sinus Buster was shown to work in under one minute, significantly improving nasal congestion, sinus pressure, pain, headache, and sense of smell over placebo. Furthermore, Sinus Buster did not result in the rebound congestion seen frequently with other nasal sprays.

All over-the-counter nasal sprays that contain oxymetazoline and phenylephrine (the vast majority) can only be used for 3 days at a time, as use beyond that time can lead to rebound congestion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhinitis_medicamentosa). Because Sinus Buster does not contain these ingredients, it bears no such restriction.

Sinus Buster is all-natural and contains no harmful chemicals or preservatives.

Sinus Buster is available online (http://www.sinusbuster.com/shop-products2.html) and nationally (http://www.sinusbuster.com/find_store.html) at retail stores, relieving congested patients each day.
